Yard Waste Disposal

  • Utilize either paper, biodegradable lawn/yard bags, or a personal 32-gallon reusable plastic or metal container marked 'Yard Waste Only'. Ensure a 60-pound weight limit for 32-gallon containers.
  • Plastic bags are not permissible for collection. Avoid placing yard waste in your refuse container.
  • Twigs or branches under 4 feet in length or 2 inches in diameter may go into yard waste bags.
  • Brush exceeding 2 inches in diameter should be tied and positioned at the curb; bundles must not surpass 4 feet in length, 60 lbs in weight, or 18 inches in diameter.
  • Leaves are to be disposed of in biodegradable yard bags.
  • Maintain a tidy front yard by not storing refuse or recycling cans there. Position your container at the curb post 6 p.m. the day prior to collection and retrieve it by 9 p.m. on the collection day.
  • Avoid placing bulk debris in front of other structures or vacant lots; position bulk items in front of your household only.
  • Ensure yard waste, recyclables, and refuse are not mixed.

Bulk Collection

  • Position bulk items at the curb, separate from other waste types, by 7 a.m. on the collection day, ensuring placement occurs no more than 24 hours in advance.
  • Notable bulk items encompass furniture, mattresses, appliances, hot water tanks, carpeting, and large toys.
  • For smaller items, utilize plastic bags or boxes; roll carpeting into bundles of no more than 4 feet and tie them.
  • Position bulk items solely in front of your household; failing to adhere can result in ticket issuance.

Should your bulk items exceed 1,000 pounds or two cubic yards:

  1. Engage the Department of Public Works' pickup service for an estimate on disposal costs at (313) 876-0049.
